This page explains what personal data the YWCA of India website (ywcaindia.org) collects, why, and what you can do about it. It also sets out the terms for using the website. “We”, “us” and “our” mean the YWCA of India, 10, Sansad Marg, New Delhi, Delhi - 110001.
Privacy Policy
We collect as little about you as we can. We don’t sell your data, show advertising or use tracking cookies.
What we collect, and why
When you visit the website. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It uses no cookies and doesn’t follow you across other websites. It records things like the pages viewed, the website that sent you here, your browser and device type and your country, which tell us what people read. Our website is hosted on Cloudflare, which also handles your IP address to deliver pages to you and to protect the site from attacks.
When you use the contact form. We ask for your name, email address, an optional mobile number and your message, and use them only to reply. To stop spam, we use your IP address to limit repeated attempts, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the message comes from a person. Your message is sent to our staff by email through Resend, an email delivery service. It is not stored on the website.
When you email or phone us. We use what you send us only to deal with your enquiry.
When you sign up as a volunteer. The volunteer form is a Google Form. We use your answers to contact you about volunteering, and Google stores them for us.
When you donate. Donations are made by bank transfer, so we receive your payment details from the bank, not from this website.
When you use our tools. The Profile Picture Generator works entirely in your browser: nothing you choose is uploaded. A few pages remember small settings in your browser for the rest of your visit. These stay on your device and aren’t sent to us.
Cookies and content from other websites
The website itself doesn’t set cookies to track you. Some pages show content from other services, and those services may set their own cookies or receive your IP address:
- Google Maps: the map on our Contact page.
- YouTube: videos in blog posts. We show a preview image from our own site, and the video loads from YouTube only when you press play. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
Links to our social media pages take you to those platforms, where their own privacy policies apply.
Who we share it with
We share your data only with the services that run the website for us, as described above: Cloudflare (hosting, security, analytics and spam checks), Resend (delivering contact-form messages) and Google (the volunteer form, maps and videos). They may handle it only to provide their service to us. If your enquiry is about a local YWCA association, we may pass it to that association so it can reply.
We will also disclose data if the law requires it, for example in response to a court order. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
Some of these services store or process data outside India. We use them only where Indian law allows it.
How long we keep it
We keep contact-form messages and emails as part of our correspondence, for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and keep a record of it. Ask us and we’ll delete them unless the law requires us to keep them. Website analytics are kept as totals and can’t be used to identify you.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to the people who need it.
Photos and people on this website
Our pages show photos from our programmes and events, and the names and photos of our leaders and staff. We take care to have consent, especially for photos of girls and young women. If you appear on this website and want a photo or your details removed, write to us and we will act on it promptly.
Children
This website is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If you think a child has sent us their details, please contact us and we’ll delete them.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct, complete or update it;
- delete it, where we no longer need it or you withdraw your consent;
- stop using it for something you had agreed to;
- deal with a complaint about how we’ve handled it.
To make a request, email our privacy officer (below). We may need to confirm who you are first. We will respond within one month.
